[Bug 352922] [NEW] Network Manager Plasma Widget is not able to connect to 3G service

Public bug reported:

Unable to connect to my 3G service after upgrading to Kubuntu Jaunty. I
have ensured that all prior settings in knetworkmanager were ported over
correctly to the NM plasmoid's configuration.

The error message I'm getting in /var/log/daemon.log is as such:

Basically, I doubt that pppd was even invoked. Typically, I would see
some logs in /var/log/messages indicating so but not in this case.

Hardware used is a Huawei E220 and it had worked (somewhat) reliably in
Intrepid. The device was also detected correctly when I plug it in and I
can see the device appearing under the Mobile Broadband section.

I can see the following logs when I plug in the modem:

I understand that there's another bug filed for the NM plasmoid but
that's pertaining to Enterprise WiFi APs. I think these are 2 separate
issues so I filed a separate bug.
