I found that it is the calendar widget which creates this high load.

Steps to reproduce:
- create a new user
- log into KDE using this new user
- add "system monitor - CPU" widget to the panel
  you should see that the system load is low
- add "Calendar" widget to the panel
=> the system load goes up to 100%
