Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kdm
I had installed Intrepid (kubuntu) and upgraded to jaunty (with ubuntu-desktop) and Gnome for default. Changed to KDE4 and all kubuntu configs with kubuntu-desktop. Because a lot of bugs with KNetworkManager (that makes impossible to get a wifi connection -- it just not try to connect, with no signal or reason) and kdebluetooth (another problematic package), I returned to Gnome, with gdm for default.
As I didn't like Gnome look and behavior, I tried return to KDE4. But now I cannot configure kdm as default login manager. Neither dpkg-reconfigure (GDM or KDM), neither changing /etc/X11/default-display-manager, neither doing all that plus disabling gdm in init.d/ rc scripts and completly remmoving GDM (apt-get remove...). All times that I configure kdm for default, it wont start in boot. It gives me just a console login, where I need to do a manual kdm or kde or startx command...
Now I get auto start of KDE, but using GDM again as login manager...
** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Description changed:
