I'm running Kubuntu 64-bit 9.04-rc1 on a Dell Studio XPS 16

When I execute kppp and connect, I consistently receive a plasma error
dialog box which states.

Sorry - Plasma Workspace 
/usr/share/applications/kde4/Kppp.desktop 
Either KLauncher is not running anymore, or it failed to start the application.

Selecting "OK" on this dialog really doesn't cause anything to crash.
This error occurs if I execute kppp several minutes after the machine
has been booted. If I execute kppp _immediately_ after the machine has
been booted (shortly after the desktop appears) I receive a more serious
error that requires me to terminate kwin and subsequently leaves me
looking at a black screen.
