The raster graphicssystem is not used as default, as it is not
considered stable yet; and some kde components/applications has severe
problems when trying to use it.

The general slowness definitely seem to be some qt / graphics related
issue.

After getting a clear description of the highlighting slowness I'm
actually able to reproduce it now. Thx Uwe. I'm going to check if it
exists in a recent svn snapshot, and report it upstream in that case.
