Frank's suggestion worked for me.
I don't have a static IP, using just DHCP. Still after a recent update in Jaunty NetworkManager couldn't establish system connection, nothing worked, couldn't even access local modem.
Current version: knetworkmanager - 1:0.7svn864988-0ubuntu8
