** Description changed:
Binary package hint: kwin
My Config:
Dell Studio XPS 16
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670
4GB RAM
Kubuntu 9.04 w/ fglrx video driver
My Problem:
When desktop effects are enabled and compositing type is set to OpenGL, resume from suspend-to-ram fails. The resume results in a black screen with some colored lines at the top of the display. The machine appears to be hung i.e. no VT and a hard reboot seems necessary.
Temporary Solution:
- Disabling desktop effects or setting the compositing type to XRender, resume seems to work normally.
+ Normal resume can be achieved by either 1) disabling desktop effects altogether or 2) setting the compositing type to XRender which has severely limited functionality as compared to OpenGL.

+ Normal resume behavior may be achieved by either 1) disabling desktop effects or 2) setting the compositing type to XRender, which is unfortunately much more limited in functionality than OpenGL.
