This issue seems to be a KDE related issue.

I have tested this functionality once again after upgrading to the KDE
4.3 (stable) release. Now it seems to be working right.

I am updating this bug status as Fix Released (the current version of
KDE 4.3 in the repositories has this bug fixed).
