That is strange that you still have a faulty behaviour after deleting
/usr/share/kubuntu-default-
settings/kde4-profile/default/share/config/kwinrulesrc. Did you try with
other applications like Kate? Regarding the x,y-positioning of the
window, I think, these do not get saved anyway (the placement is
controlled by the "Placement" option in System Settings -> Window
Behavior -> Advanced.

Did you take a look at System Settings -> Window Behavior -> Window
Specific? After deleting the kubuntu-default kwinrulesrc You should have
no rules listed there (except for one default rule maybe).
