The solution that worked best for me on my U100 was the blacklist one.
This reduced the applet from coming on to a few seconds, and it gave me
back access to usb ports.  But I do agree with the other posters that
this and the usb bug are showstoppers for the average user and the
advice should be either x or y or stick with UNR 9.04 on an MSI or clone
until the problem is fixed.  By the way, I did not notice it when
booting from a live usb.
