Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plasma-widget-networkmanagement

After upgrade to karmik on the 3.11.2009, I noticed that there was no internet connection.
The network manager applet showed that the network was indeed not connected.
I found a way to easily connect by simply adding a new wired connection without any options, but this can be confusing for beginners and I'm still checking if that solution is viable in the long term.
And the fix has to be done for every user on the system, unless another one is already logged in with an active connection.
