Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

I have System Settings set to Classic Tree View, and although I do have
"Double-click to open files and folders" set, items in treeviews are not
icons and should only require one click. (If there were any way to
select multiples of them and do anything But activate them once selected
then it might make sense to follow the same rules icons have - but they
don't and shouldn't behave like icons, it's the same reason they don't
have context menus.)
