In many distros Konqueror was filling the role of file manager, even in KUbuntu, 
but more prominently in OpenSuSE

When Konqueror came up in previous releases it displayed a file management type 
screen and one of the options was to view/empty trash.

The fact that none of the "trash" ages its way off the machine is another 
significant development and usability issue.
