Sorry for not getting back to you sooner on this, Steve.

Part of the problem could be that you're running a beta version, which
due tend to have bugs after all.  Please upgrade to 2.2.1 [1] and report
back with whether you can still reproduce the crash.  If so, we should
report to Amarok developers on the KDE bugtracker.
