My current workaround is:
1. start kontact
2. wait until akonadi error dialog appears
3. close (only!) kontact
4. start kontact

Then you have your contacts again.

BTW: The higher timeout doesn't help, the error messages comes anyway.
It now just takes longer. looks like kontact does something wrong very
early on.
