Using a stopwatch time reported are:
>From the boot menu to the 'Try or Install Kubuntu' window: 2 minutes 15s
>From the 'Try or Install Kubuntu' window to the desktopn: 2minutes 09s (without the time to select the language and click on try kubuntu)

That's a total time of 4mn24s
