Public bug reported:

I have both the Ubuntu and Kubuntu desktops installed, running 11.04 beta 2 (I like to try both during testing). I logged into a KDE session unintentionally (it had been the last login), logged out, and logged back into a Unity session. I didn't notice the CPU usage for awhile (in Unity there's no way to put a CPU monitor on the panel to warn me!) but when I went to shut down, the system complained of an unresponsive program. I checked the System Monitor and found I was at 100% CPU on one of my two cores. (My memory and swap were also a lot higher than they used to be, but that could just be 11.04.)
I identified kded4 as the runaway process (it took a kill -9 to kill it); not really sure why it was running in a unity session in the first place.
