Public bug reported:
I’m on Kubuntu 10.10 and upgraded to KDE SC 4.6 RC 1 and now RC 2
through Kubuntu’s repositories. When I log in I get this error message
every time:
‘Strigi Indexing Agent Has Been Disabled
The Strigi service is not available or fully operational and attempts to rectify this have failed. Therefore indexing of all data stored in the Akonadi PIM service has been disabled, which will severely limit the capabilities of any application using this data.
The following problems were detected:
Unable to start the Strigi daemon.
Strigi daemon is not running.
Additional help can be found here: userbase.kde.org/Akonadi’
However, when I go to Desktop Search in System Settings I see that
Strigi is enabled, and is making progress with indexing files. This
seems to indicate that Strigi is in fact working correctly and that the
annoying error message is not justified.
While I don’t remember exactly what I did just a while ago, if I
remember correctly the first time I looked at Desktop Search just a few
minutes ago I noticed Strigi wasn’t enabled at all. I enabled it and
noticed it started indexing, so the error messages have been appearing
for days even before Strigi was enabled in Desktop Search.
** Affects: strigi (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
