installing pavucontrol did not solve my problem.
I have a 5.1 setting but the subwoofer is disabled every time.
It disables somehow from one song to the next in Amarok!!!!
I have to change settings in Configuration panel of pavucontrol, then
change it back to 5.1, but it resets again to some sort of 5.0 with
the next song.
Sound used to work so well, I never had a problem with Kubuntu sound 
before. In 10.4 I could set everything via the mixer with no problem.
I'm getting seriously tired of having to reinvent the wheel everytime I do an upgrade.
