I can reproduce this in the following way:
- Connect to network using wvdial to control hspda modem and make sure that kded4 is running
- Interrupting wvdial makes that process exit, but network connection is still on (pppd does not exit)
- Kill pppd
As a result of this, kded4 goes wild eating 100% CPU and I have to kill -6 it.
Only related messages I can find from logs are from syslog:
May 2 20:37:39 temeo pppd[4827]: Terminating on signal 15
May 2 20:37:39 temeo pppd[4827]: Connect time 7.0 minutes.
May 2 20:37:39 temeo pppd[4827]: Sent 87587 bytes, received 140373 bytes.
May 2 20:37:39 temeo pppd[4827]: Connection terminated.
May 2 20:37:39 temeo avahi-daemon[912]: Withdrawing workstation service for ppp0.
May 2 20:37:39 temeo NetworkManager[914]: SCPlugin-Ifupdown: devices removed (path: /sys/devices/virtual/net/ppp0, iface: ppp0)
May 2 20:37:39 temeo pppd[4827]: Exit.
