You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I've upgraded my Ubuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10 and discovered that Gnome3
is a piece of s....., so I installed Kubuntu to give KDE a try. As I
were on a Ubuntu instalation, I was using lightdm, the Ubuntu's default.
And I realized that There is no option to Shutdown KDE. I did a research
on the internet and found the link below, saying that I should use KDM
to be able to Shutdown my KDE system normally (without have to logout
first).

kubuntu.html
If think this is annoying, You should either make the shutdown option
available when started by lightdm or at least force KDM when installing
Kubuntu.
