@ghostcube,
make sure you have these in your /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc file:

[Shutdown]
BootManager=Grub
HaltCmd=/sbin/shutdown -h -P now
RebootCmd=/sbin/shutdown -r now

then restart kdm and please report back...
