kubuntu-desktop is strictly depends on OpenGL implementation of KWin
(kde-window-manager libkwineffects1abi2). In result it's not possible to
install OpenGL ES implementation of KWin (kde-window-manager-gles,
libkwineffects1abi2-gles) without removing of kubuntu-desktop.
