I found a solution!!! I saw Bug #966913 and saw that there were issues
if the directory/file weren't created/populated previously that things
are stored in a cache. Obviously not directly related but roused my
suspicions. Kmail used to have a similar problem that it didn't work
when first started (missing maildir or something). I navigated to
./local/share/notes/new and created a random .txt file and entered a few
characters. Closed Kontact (closed as in exited not just minimized to
taskbar) and reopened it, then all of a sudden Kjots started working.
The .txt was there but I just deleted it in Kontact and it auto-deletes
from the directory. Now I can add New Books, New Pages etc. Bug fixed.
