[Bug 1009897] [NEW] Can't connect to VPN

Public bug reported:

Following an upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04, I can no longer make vpn
connections. This worked prior to the upgrade.

In /var/log/syslog I see

Jun  7 09:55:23 homer NetworkManager[1284]: <error> [1339059323.443190] [nm-vpn-connection.c:934] get_secrets_cb(): Failed to request VPN secrets #3: (6) No agents were available for this request.
Jun  7 09:55:23 homer NetworkManager[1284]: <info> Policy set 'SKY05870' (wlan0) as default for IPv4 routing and DNS.
Jun  7 09:55:28 homer NetworkManager[1284]: <info> VPN service 'vpnc' disappeared

whenever I try to connect.
