I confirm that there is a problem indeed.

I've installed Kubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 today (alternate install CD) from scratch.
After I restart my machine most KDE settings are reset to default.
Desktop wallpaper, default web browser (changed from Rekonq to Firefox), Dolphin settings, etc. 
Fonts haven't changed back though...

Overall it's very frustrating.
