Public bug reported:

I left the computer alone, without logging out. I came back about 6
hours later and was presented with a promt for my password. I entered my
password and was immediately met by a message telling me that kwin has
crashed and asking if I'd like to report it as a bug. I click the report
but button, but nothing happens. The system is extremely slow to respond
to any other input. I ended up going to tty1 and rebooting.

I could not find any package named kwin so I did some googling and it
appears to be a part of this package kde-window-manager.
