Before a recent update, I was able to use the nVidia X Server Settings
to configure my monitors. The "Display and Monitor" configuration has
never worked for me.
After said update, the ability configure my monitors stopped working.
In order to toggle between using only my laptop display or using my
laptop display + external monitor, I need to log out (which of course
refreshes the xserver...).
The following is the only system log I could find that seemed to apply
to this. I repeated this a few times and watched the timestamps change
on logs in /var/log, and only syslog and Xorg.0.log changed. Syslog
only had entries about the vpnagent, so I'm guessing that's irrelevant.
