Upstream openscenegraph consider this probably a Qt bug (http://lists.openscenegraph.org/pipermail/osg-users-openscenegraph.org/2014-January/065939.html), possibly one of these:
https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-31935
https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-200
https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-24528

They also can't reproduce it, which suggests it may be hardware
dependent.

** Also affects: qt4-x11 (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
       Status: New

** Description changed:

  When starting osgviewerQt from the openscenegraph package crashes on
  startup:

  $ osgviewerQt
  [xcb] Unknown request in queue while dequeuing
  [xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called
  [xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
  osgviewerQt: ../../src/xcb_io.c:179: dequeue_pending_request: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_unknown_req_in_deq' failed.
+
+ Workaround: adding XInitThreads() at the start of main() avoids this
+ problem, but upstream do not consider this a proper fix.
