You have been subscribed to a public bug by James Cain (ronnoc):

Since Firefox will be the default web browser in our long-term support
release, as title says, Firefox needs a fix to allow for darker themes
to be used while still making the text readable.

Background:

For years now Kubuntu users have complained about GTK apps not being
useable with darker themes, including themes such as Obsidian Coast with
are included in the default Kubuntu / KDE SC install. For reference,
see:

(1) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1715679
(2) https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?59327-Color-schemes&p=302392&viewfull=1#post302392

Googleing the problem shows many many more threads & frustrations. Here
is an image with stock Firefox rendering a webpage with the stock
Obsidian Coast Theme:

As you can see, the text is simply NOT readable. With Firefox being the
default again but this time for a LTS, a solution needs to be applied.

Possible solution:

Adding a css text file named "userContent.css" (minus quotes, case
sensitive) to Home > .mozilla > firefox > some_random_text.default >
chrome will fix the issue. Note that the folder "chrome" will likely not
exsist by default.

A .css file was published on the web via the Ubuntu Forums that corrects
this problem perfectly. See:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1715679&p=10606786#post10606786

Applying the fix will show the web page referenced above, for instance,
now showing the text correctly as shown here:

Although the css code could be tweaked to our liking, It's my assertion
that a fix like this is needed from a user experience standpoint. The
alternative would be to put a word of caution against using darker
themes in Kubuntu in the release notes.

As an aside, Chomium / Chrome do not possess this problem. Only Firefox,
due to it's GTK-orientation.
