The bug #974993 says to be fixed and released, but the effect, in 14.04 is that both i386 and amd64 versions of gtk2-engines-qtcurve cannot be installed at the same time.
When attempting to install the i386 version, the amd64 is set to remove.
This doesn't happen with other packages like gtk2-engines-murrine or gtk2-engines-oxygen, which can both be installed in both archs at the same time.
