[Bug 1450496] Re: Plasma Shell keeps crashing with segmentation fault

With KUbuntu 16.04 plasmashell is still crashing with segmentation fault.
Check your ~/.config and ~/.cache for Root permissions. Change the permissions recursively to your username. 
This might help.
You may also type these commands:
kbuildsycoca5 && kquitapp plasmashell && kstart plasmashell
