installed the driver from kynaptic

so I figure how to install the driver from knynaptic. I read that nowI 
could chnage the Nvidia settings I just don't know where to go.  but I 
am still having problems with it because as I was following the 
instructions it did not allo me to run sudo synaptic to set universal. 
also how do I install blender it is not on my list in kynaptic. I know  
alot of questions and hopefully I can maje this work.
