Gnucash

I am using KDE 3.4.0. I tried to upgrade to the latest Gnucash. If this is in 
the wrong place for a question I am sorry. I ran into needing a few 
dependencies. While trying to find them I now cannot open the version I had 
and symantic says I have version 1.8.10-15 in gnucash and gnucash-common. 
They show installed with an X thru them in symantic. What does this mean. I 
am trying to get a financial program for hame and a small contracting 
business. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
