Think about this, you're asking a Kubuntu mailing list
whether it's worthwhile installing Kubuntu :-)
What do I say? I say try it out and see what you
think.
The KDE environment gives me all sorts of things that
Gnome doesn't (Konqueror and Quanta+ sprinimmediately
to mind). I know that I could run these things on the
Gnome desktop, but in the end I just get on better
with KDE. It's a personal thing.
I also run a few things that would be considered to be
Gnome, such as Gimp, and some that are simply agnostic
about where they fit in.
I find KDE to be far better integrated than Gnome,
with all sorts of apps happily co-operating, and a
properly working clipboard.
You'll probably get along fine in Gnome, never having
tried KDE. If KDE disappeared overnight (yes, I know
why this wouldn't happen), I'm sure I'd get along
alright in Gnome.
However, give me a choice right now and, though I have
a little peek at Gnome every now and then, I'd choose
KDE every time!
Andrew.
