My experience with kubuntu 5.04 is:

1. sources.list doesn't include by default universe nor multiverse nor 
backports repositories, so you'd modify your sources.list to, at least, fit 
universe ones (that's the problem you should care about),
2. grub menu is not shown by default,
3. Win XP is not added to grub by default in 2 of the 3 machines i've 
installed it on.
