updating kmenu

Having just tried it, I'd say the same way you add any other item to kmenu.
Right click on the "K" icon and start KDE Menu Editor.
Create new Item
Under Name:  KControl
Under Description:  Control Panel for KDE
Under Command:  kcontrol
And of course change the icon by clicking on the page looking one in the upper 
right hand column.

That should do it.
