Ubuntu needs to find a better host for it's primary US mirror. I got 
tired or problems at that site and abandoned it several weeks ago.  
There are a number of (less publicized) US mirrors that are much better.

My fave is http://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/linux/ubuntu
