katapult howto?

I'm not familiar with this, but am reading the quick start guide,
which says Alt-Space will activate Katapult.

For me Alt-Space does nothing.  Typing 'katapult' in a konsole causes
scrolling messages, like this:

Ignored duplicate item: Synaptic Package Manager

Ignored duplicate item: Networking

after a while the konsole stops and I have to hit Ctl-C to get back to
the prompt.

I don't find any info with 'man katapult', on the wiki, or the
doc/katapult/README.  What am I to do to use Katapult?
