Pipped at the post: Kubuntu Login

What a Bugger!!!

I spent quite a time installing Kubuntu 5.04 on 3 laptops
for a bunch of Bulgarian lawyers:-

egg all over my face:

having set the passwords, when everything has been
installed and come to the login window the password is not
accepted: can do a console login - but that is not going to

do much for the lawyers......

what am I doing wrong (works fine with Ubuntu - but the
lawyers want KDE - no internet so has to be from Kubuntu
distro) ???

Help gratefully recieved.
