How to opening large document files

You may need to use a console app which doesn't load all the file at 
once. Try "mc" (press F4 to edit). Otherwise vi(m) or Emacs.

I don't know which GUI app can handle large files well, i.e. without 
getting stuck when scrolling or even typing.
