That's a little bit difficult as the problem is with my laptop but the
gist of it is that since I wasn't getting anywhere with trying to
'dist-upgrade', using various kde versions (3.5.3 and 3.5.4) in the end
I did a sudo apt-get --purge remove kde*' thinking "I will start afresh".
After removing and purging kde* I then tried to install kde-core - no
joy; kdebase - no joy and finally kubuntu-desktop - no joy!
They all failed on unmet dependencies regarding ksysguard - something to
the effect of:
ksysguard can't be installed because it needs a different version
number but it's not going to be installed.
So I installed xubuntu-desktop for just now until I can figure out how
to get KDE back without having to do a reinstall.
Blessings,
Nigel
