kmail and encryption

I am attempting to get kmail setup to encrypt and sign messages. I am using
ubuntu 6.06 with all latest updates that I know of with KDE 3.5.3. Kmail
version is 1.9.3.

Here is what I have done so far: I have created my keys for two of my email
accounts that I use from this box. I have created a key for my work account
that also runs ubuntu but I use evolution on that box as it connects to my
company's exchange server. I have copied and imported my two keys from my
laptop on my company machine and my company account on my laptop. I can send
signed messages back and forth. Once I trusted and signed the keys on both
machines, Evolution shows correct signatures from a trusted account just like
I would expect. On Kmail, when I send a message from my evo box, it shows a
bad signature. When I send mail between my two accounts on my laptop, the
signature works beautifully.

When I try to encrypt from anywhere to anywhere, it errors out. The exact
message is:
Encrypted message (decryption not possible)
Reason: Crypto plug-in "openpgp" could not decrypt the data.
Error: Bad passphrase

I did some google checking and found the page on the kde site
http://kmail.kde.org/kmail-pgpmime-howto.html and followed the instructions.
gpg-agent is running. But, I cannot get kmail to decrypt a message. I can't
even view the message I sent in my sent items.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
