Kubuntu, first impressions.

I tried installing Mandriva 2007 recently. It had no problem recognising my
bog-standard 3-button PS/2 mouse during installation. Once it booted to the
KDE desktop, the mouse didn't work. I've been using Linux since 1997 so I
had a few clues on what to do about it. I wonder how a new user would get
on.
