Strange behaviour

The post I was replying to was talking about the debug that KDE
applications output, which used to be visible on the console and is
now redirected to the file ~/.xsession-errors. This is a KDE problem.

I agree with you that the error messages that appeared in Edgy are
specific to the way Ubuntu was designed (some driver lines added to
the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file).
