Hi,
I met the same problem last week, it seems that for some reasons the
sudo command does not get the password input. My quite naive solution
was (I installed mysql in my home dir) to change owner to the whole of
mysql, from root & mysql to me (in contradiction with what is stated in
mysql installation instructions, that is).
Right now, this solution is working, but I suppose there is a better way
to do it. HTH nonetheless :-)
