First:  To all who posted regarding this problem... "Thank you!"

Second:  As a result of my frustration I neglected to note that the web site
on which the deb file is purportedly stored came back as '404 Not Found'
whenever I attempted the download.  Today, oddly enough, I resorted to
firing up the XP box and the file was immediately d/l.  I don't know if the
site was down or if there was something about kubuntu's installation ..given
the fact that I was perusing web sites w/o any problem.  Whatever the case,
I now have the file & will once more attempt the installation and hope that
nothing goes wrong so that I can back it up, this time.
