Zire 31 working with Dapper anyone ?

That's the problem.  I understand Dapper changed the way udev works.  I find 
udev the most unreliable portion of Ubuntu.

Unlikely, but it may be a permissions problem.  What is the output of 

ls -l /dev/ttyUSB1
