Kdevelop not building

Have you created or opened a project ? What are you doing when the Build menu 
is empty.
KDevelop doesn't know how to build individual files, it won't call gcc 
directly ever, it uses make to do it and for it to work, you should have a 
Makefile or a configure or some other project-files like that.
If you are creating your own program, then just go and create a project. If 
you are working on someone elses program it'll be more complicated; unless 
that other program is more or less like a KDevelop project.
