DNS addresses corrupting.

Thanks for that Joe, we are getting warmer, BUT, 
the   /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf is merely a sample file with every line 
commented out.

The work seems to be done by   /etc/dchp3/dhclient-script but now I have 
ventured out of my depth.

I suspect my error is located elsewhere and this a consequence.
